MCM Scandinavian Smoked Amethyst Glass Bowl (Per Lütken)

Up for sale is a stunning, substantial mid-century modern art glass centerpiece bowl, beautifully attributed to iconic Danish designer Per Lütken for Holmegaard (circa 1950s/1960s). This piece features Lütken's signature biomorphic, fluid tri-cornered styling. In natural light, it displays a sophisticated smoky charcoal/amethyst tint. Under a 365nm UV/blacklight, it reveals a brilliant, fiery yellow-green fluorescence—a hallmark of the manganese clarifying agents used in vintage Scandinavian glass production. It features an entirely flat, flawlessly ground, mirror-polished pontil base. In exceptional vintage condition with absolutely no chips, cracks, or flea bites along the organic rim. Displays only light, honest shelf wear on the bottom consistent with authentic age.
