Vintage Stella Parlor Guitar – Likely 1940s/50s – With Case

Vintage Stella H929 Parlor Guitar – Circa 1945–1970 – Original Case & Vintage Accessories – $300. Very cool vintage Stella parlor guitar, model H929, dating from approximately 1945–1970. The internal marking is 1105 H929. H929 identifies the model, while 1105 appears to be a factory/batch number. No separate date stamp was found, so it isn't possible to narrow the year down further. A great little piece of musical history that has recently been cleaned up and brought back into playable condition. I picked this up as a bit of a restoration project and gave it some much-needed attention while preserving its vintage character. Work included a thorough cleaning, cleaning and lubricating the tuning mechanisms, filling some old holes in the bridge area, working on the floating bridge and saddle to improve the action, and installing a fresh set of strings. It now plays nicely, stays in tune and has good, comfortable action, with that dry, woody vintage sound you'd expect from an old Stella. Cosmetically, it absolutely shows its age, with scratches, dings, finish wear and other signs of a genuinely old instrument. That's part of its charm. As the photos show, it still presents beautifully and would be equally at home being played or displayed on the wall as a great vintage conversation piece. The guitar appears to retain its original hardware and appointments, with the floating bridge being a possible replacement. Also included is the vintage fitted hardshell case, along with some very cool period pieces that were found inside: - Vintage Gibson string box - Two National Musical String Co. “Black Diamond” string envelopes - Vintage metal guitar slide - Metal string/nut extender for raising the strings for lap-style/slide playing. The vintage strings and packaging are included as collectible mementos — the guitar itself has fresh modern strings installed. A really neat old survivor with loads of character that's now playable again rather than simply sitting in its case. $300
