Vintage porcelain lidded trinket box from the Villeroy & Boch Design Naif collection. The piece is signed "LAPLAU" on the bottom right of the image. It honours the prominent French folk-artist Gérard Laplau, who originally created these whimsical, childlike country vignettes for the brand starting in 1979. The stamp on the bottom reads "Ancienne Manufacture Impériale et Royale Luxembourg". This historical designation honours the company's 1767 royal factory in Luxembourg, which closed its production doors entirely in 2010. The box measures approximately 4 1/2 inches in diameter.
