African tribal drum, kettle drum, $400

This item is a vintage African tribal drum coffee table (or kettle drum table) constructed from a large, hand-carved wooden base and tightly stretched cowhide or animal hide. Key Characteristics:The Top: Made from natural animal hide stretched tightly across the wooden frame, secured with intricate woven hide lacing around the rim. The Base: Features a deep, bowl-shaped kettle drum silhouette supported by a tripod (three-legged) base. Many of these mid-century pieces have hand-carved legs sculpted to resemble animal hooves or horns. Dual Functionality: While originally crafted as functional, deep-toned musical instruments, they became popular mid-century decor items that serve as distinctive conversation pieces, accent stools, or coffee tables. Designers often place a custom-cut piece of round glass or acrylic on top to protect the hide when using it as a cocktail table. 30 in wide $400
