Audubon Society Field Guide to North American Mushrooms
$15
The Audubon Society Field Guide to North American Mushrooms by Gary H. Lincoff, then the president of the North American Mycological Association.
The sixth printing (1989) of the Chanticleer Press Edition, the guide provides both colour illustrations and descriptions of different mushrooms. The descriptions include the areas in which they may be found, both in terms of typical habitat as well as geographic locations, and the seasons the mushrooms grow.
The National Audubon Society is an American non-profit environmental organization dedicated to conservation of birds and their habitats. Having begun in 1905, it is one of the oldest such conservation groups and has been releasing field guides for decades.
Bought for the intention of foraging a number of years ago, this book never ended up going outside. It has been stored away for the last nimber of years. It has a vinyl cover, making it easy to take outside without damage. It shows some faint spots on its edges (see last photo) but is otherwise mark and scuff free, coming from a smoke free pet free home.
