Antique Art Nouveau / Meiji Period Cast Bronze Miniature Gourd Vase
This beautiful, antique Art Nouveau or Meiji Period cast bronze miniature gourd vase is a unique find, perfect for collectors of vintage art. This unique piece features a bulbous base transitioning to a cylindrical neck, adorned with sculptural details around the base.
A rare, late 19th to early 20th-century antique miniature cabinet/bud vase. This heavy, solid-cast bronze vessel showcases excellent craftsmanship from either the European Art Nouveau movement or the Japanese Meiji period. It features a striking, deeply sculpted biomorphic leaf and gnarled organic vine motif that wraps dynamically around a bulbous gourd-shaped base.
Material & Patina
The vase boasts a thick, robust sand-cast or lost-wax structure with characteristic uneven, hand-finished rim walls. The surface features an original, dark chocolate-brown and black rubbed factory patina, accented by authentic verdigris oxidation spots in the deep crevices. The underside shows traditional production file marks surrounding a central, heavily worn square signature seal mark.
