12" Chinese Blue & White Porcelain Koi Fish

Vintage Huge 12" Chinese Blue & White Porcelain Koi Fish Serving Bowl Basin Up for auction is a magnificent, oversized vintage Chinese blue and white porcelain serving bowl featuring a classic hand-painted koi carp motif. This is a highly sought-after, massive 12-inch variant of traditional Chinese "People's Ware" (Min Yao), making it an exceptional statement piece for both utilitarian use and high-end Chinoiserie home decor. The bowl features a clean, minimalist design with one detailed cobalt blue koi fish painted on the interior basin and three matching koi fish spaced evenly around the exterior wall. In Chinese culture, the koi carp symbolizes continuous abundance, wealth, perseverance, and harmony. Dating back to the mid-to-late 20th century (circa 1970s–1990s), this utilitarian export piece features a completely plain, unmarked base with an authentic, unglazed kiln-fired foot ring—characteristic of genuine everyday folk kiln porcelain from the Guangdong or Jingdezhen regions.
