Antique Dresden Meissen-style forget-me-not encrusted miniature 2 cups & saucers and tea pot. Delightful mid 19th century Meissen-style miniature tea cup and saucer beautifully encrusted and hand painted with forget-me-nots and insects. The tea cup and saucer have lost their gilt-edging over the centuries but there is remarkably little damage to the very delicate leaves and petals. Both the tea cup and saucer are delicately painted with small floral sprigs and insects and a central spray of forget-me-nots. The makers mark is NOT the typical Meissen crossed swords which suggests this was a Meissen blank which were typically painted by other decorators outside the Meissen studio. Most prominent of these was the decorator Helena Wolfsohn who produced exquisite pieces in Dresden in the 1870s and often used the Meissen Royal factory mark on her products, in particular a variation of the Meissen AR (Augustus Rex) mark, as seen on this cup and saucer. They were eventually forced to stop using the mark by 1881 in Germany and by 1883 in England. Miniature cup measures-4cm wide x 2.5cm tall. Larger Tea Cup-6.5cm wide x 4cm tall Miniature plate measuring-6.5cm in diameter Larger Plate measures 11cm in diameter Tea pot measuring 6cm tall without lid x 10cm wide Small defect on larger plate on bottom.
