The Meaning Of Liff by Douglas Adams & John Lloyd we I received this strange little book as a Xmas gift from a then-partner/now ex’s *aggressively* English father: it was his attempt to indoctrinate me into their way of life (way of Liff?) I suppose. When I say *aggressively* I mean it; if you think of a stereotype, it described him. For 80% of his woken hours, and about 50% of his sleeping hours, this man had either an ale or tea in his hand. He spoke of rugby and boarding school the way soldiers spoke of WW2 (which he also spoke of often). As endearing as it was, one can only endure so much Monty Python before one’s patience wears wafer-thin, and is compelled to Brexit the situation. (My ex and I are amicable; she was okay with me posting this as it’s all in good fun).
