I’m a 34 year old indigenous, Japanese and Caucasian mixed female artist and mother of 2 young children. My indigenous mother recently passed and was adopted when she was 2 years old. 23&me linked me work my half uncle just this past week! So I’ll soon know exactly what nation I am from and much more about my native ancestry but for now I know that my mother was born in Terrace, BC and her brother is also from a near by area to there so we’re most likely from the northwest coast. This piece is me bringing together my native side and my fathers, Japanese side. The Japanese characters are actually my signature, my maiden name in Japanese, NISHIYAMA; which means West Mountain. The round red sun is the country flag of Japan. This piece is father Eagle talking with grandfather moon; sharing stories and wisdom before bringing it back down to earth for us to learn.
