Garry Meeches’s was born in 1957 on the Long Plains reserve in Southern Manitoba. His cultural heritage is Saulteaux Ojibway. Garry Meeches’s art style pays homage to the traditional Plains style of art which is highly regarded and recognized in Canada and the United States.
