Gorgeous purple velvet imitation chesterfield sofa, in excellent condition. I’ve had it for around 6 months. There’s nothing wrong with it at all, but I never quite loved it. Neither did my cat- fortunately no scratches at all! Sofa has been rigorously vacuumed and lint brushed to remove any trace of my kitty, however yours might still smell her on it. She didn’t sit on it really ever, though, tbh, unless on top of me. Ok I take that back. I did find *two* photos of her on the couch, which, even still given the number of photos I take of her indicates that she isn’t on it very often at all. Why am I selling this gorgeous thing? Well, a few reasons. 1) I bought it while I was unemployed and spent waaaaaay too much on it, (originally $1200) and I really shouldn’t have done that. 2) it’s actually just a little bit narrow for my liking. It looks like a whole couch. It is a whole couch. But it’s a little more petite than it seems in the photos. Would suit a lady with a classy apartment, I imagine. 3) I’ve never really liked new things. Its soft and lovely to run your hand back and forth across the nap of the velvet, but I actually prefer my stuff with a little wear and tear, if I’m honest. Some life energy from the people who interacted with it before. Bertolt Brecht (a German director and theatre producer in the early 1900s) regarded actors as merely meat pupppets, but believed that the props used on stage should be actual real items with histories aligning with the story being told on stage. He felt the objects had more power to communicate real feelings than the actors did. I really just love slightly broken, old, unwanted things. Pickup near Victoria and 41st or delivery available for a small fee. It’s quite lightweight but well constructed and no damage. Price is also negotiable- I’ve pitched it at $850 because that seems fair to me considering the condition it’s in, and also that’s the minimum I need to pay my rent this month 🫣🤞🏽 Hey while we’re here, how bout a quick lesson from a film and Tv set Decorator about sofas? The word Chesterfield is bandied about a lot here in Canada, often used incorrectly and interchangeably for the word “sofa” or “couch” it actually refers to a specific style of couch. People often call sofas with button backs Chesterfields too, and this is also incorrect. That’s just an upholstery style and many furniture that aren’t Chesterfields can have button backs. A true Chesterfield has arms the same height as the back, in a fairly square configuration and is usually leather. 💫💁🏽♀️ the more you know 💗
