Seeds can be planted in very early spring/late winter when chance of frost is still possible. Seeds should be planted directly in the ground, they do not like to be transplanted. They should not be covered with mulch or soil as they need light to germinate, simply sprinkle on the ground. Flemish Antique Peony can grow up to 10cm across and 90cm tall. Black Swan flowers are 4 inches wide across and the plants grow up to 48 inches tall. Purple peony poppies can grow up to 36 inches tall and the flowers themselves can grow 4 inches across. Hungarian Blue poppies grow up to 24 inches tall and the flowers themselves are 3 inches across.
