Captain Phillips (Blu-ray/DVD)

In good condition. Nominated for six Academy Awards, including Best Picture, director Paul Greengrass (The Bourne Supremacy, United 93) delivers a pulse-pounding, razor-sharp true story in Captain Phillips. Two-time Oscar winner Tom Hanks stars as Captain Richard Phillips, commanding officer of the unarmed U.S. container ship Maersk Alabama. In 2009, 145 miles off the coast of Somalia, the vessel is stalked and boarded by a band of desperate Somali pirates led by the shrewd Muse (played in an extraordinary, Oscar-nominated breakout debut by Barkhad Abdi). When the hijacking spirals out of control, Phillips is taken hostage aboard an enclosed fiberglass lifeboat, setting off an agonizing psychological standoff and a massive, high-tech U.S. Navy rescue operation. Driven by raw tension, documentary-style handheld realism, and an unforgettable final performance from Hanks.
