Large Mark Armstrong Studio Art Glass Vase
$220
Large Mark Armstrong Studio Art Glass Vase – 2019 PEC Jazz Festival Award Piece
For sale is a stunning, substantial piece of contemporary Canadian studio art glass handcrafted by renowned glassblower Mark Armstrong at Armstrong Glassworks in Wellington, Ontario.
This impressive teardrop-shaped vase is heavily inspired by Kosta Boda's iconic "Fossil" series by Kjell Engman. It features a deeply textured, frosted "ice bark" exterior contrasted by smooth, clear recessed oval "windows." This technique creates a beautiful optical illusion, making the pattern look as if it is floating deep inside the thick glass walls.
Local Provenance & History:
This particular piece was custom commissioned as a prestigious presentation award for the 2019 Prince Edward County (PEC) Jazz Festival. The clear foot of the vase features beautiful hand-engraved text honoring a key festival organizer. This unique local history makes it a fantastic collectible for enthusiasts of Ontario art history, jazz memorabilia, and Prince Edward County culture.
